GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
Soil improvement: Dig the soil about 30-45 cm deep and mix with organic fertilizer or manure to make the soil loose and rich in nutrients. Adjust the soil pH by adding lime to increase pH (create pink color) or adding phosphate fertilizer to decrease pH (create green color).
STEP 1: Sow seeds
Dig planting holes twice the size of the tree’s root ball and spaced 1-1.5 metres apart depending on the variety and mature size of the tree. Centre the tree in the hole, adjusting it to the correct depth (slightly above ground level) and fill in around the base of the tree. Firm the soil down gently and water well.
STEP 2: Plant seeds
Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Water regularly, especially during dry periods. Prune in late winter or early spring to remove dead growth and encourage new growth. Some varieties need to be pruned after the flowers have faded.
